Original collage cut out painting - Chimpanzee Poking For Termites - OOAK art
£65.00
sold out
This is an original piece of art I created recently from cut out, oil-painted card and other paper collage. The background is a delicate, olive green Japanese paper. It comes with a mount but is unframed.
It depicts a chimpanzee poking for termites in a tree stump using a long piece of grass. It is one of a series of 14 pieces, depicting chimps using tools.
In the 1960s, primatologist Jane Goodall discovered that, like humans, chimpanzees also use tools. Before that, tool use was a defining characteristic only attributed to humans. It has been discovered that each group of chimps has its own way of using tools - its own culture - handed down through the generations.
The actual image size is 14.4x10.5cm inside the mount.
The image comes with an off-white mount with a black core. The mount measures 10" x 8" - it would therefore fit perfectly into a standard 10" x 8" frame - cheap and easy to come-by on eBay or a second hand store! It is signed and dated by the artist (me!) on the back of the image.
The piece will be sent with tracking.
